Congratulations to Dr. Athena Phoa for receiving the Michael Smith Health Research BC Research Trainee award 2023 for the work titled, "Restoration of miR-185 in combination with BCR-ABL downregulation by non-viral delivery of siRNA with lipomeric carriers and lipid nanoparticles sensitizes drug resistant cells to TKIs."
Canadian research teams, including several from BC Cancer, will receive a total of $2.4 million to advance cancer research and treatment following new awards in the 2023 Terry Fox New Frontiers Program Project Grant (PPG) competition.
Afsaneh Panahi, graduate student at the Kuchenbauer Lab has been awarded an International Myeloma Society (IMS) Young Investigator Award for Exemplary Abstract, for the abstract titled, “Dysregulated APOBEC3B promotes cell proliferation and DNA damage in multiple myeloma."
BC Cancer's Dr. Florian Kuchenbauer and Dr. François Bénard, in collaboration with TRIUMF Innovations and led by Dr. Robert Britton from Simon Fraser University, have secured a grant from the Centre for Probe Development and Commercialization (CPDC) to conduct ground-breaking research in cancer imaging.
Kwangjin Park (Hoodless Lab) has been awarded the Canadian Institutes of Health Research 2022 Postdoctoral Fellowship Award for the project titled, "Roles of the Lysine Methyl Transferase (KMT) 2D in hepatocyte cell identity and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression."
